Biography
Originally from San Antonio, Texas, Carissa started studying dance at the age of
three. She became a professional at the age of fourteen when she was invited to be
a goodwill ambassador for the United States under the sister city program with
Germany. She toured throughout Germany with the Fandango Dance Company as a
Fandango performing weekly at the famed Arneson River Theatre.

In 1996 she was again asked to be a goodwill ambassador for the United States
under the sister city program with Mexico. She toured throughout Mexico with
Danzahispana as a principal flamenco dancer.

She toured with the Boston Flamenco Ballet peforming in 30 states and 53 cities
throughout the United States.

She has performed for the president of Mexico, Carlos Salinas de Gortari as well as
Queen Elizabeth of England on their respective visits to San Antonio, Tx.

Carissa was a company member for the Jose Greco II Dance Company as well as La
Compania de Arte Espanol. She has studied under renowned artists Jose Greco
Sr,Jose Greco II, Chiqui Linares, Pilar Rioja, Luis Montero and Javier Villagas.

Carissa began teaching dance in 1996.  She was a choreographer for the San
Antonio Parks and Recreation Department where she taught beginning through
advanced flamenco as well as mexican folkloric and jazz dance.

Carissa just got back from a month long stay in Spain where she studied with Pilar
Ortega. Carissa currently teaches private lessons and can be seen performing at
various venues throughout southern California.
